Saving Grace

Painting Title: Saving Grace

Year Painted: 2021

Artist: Joanne Daniel

My artwork tries to show the power of God and his gracious works and his saving hand trying to reach out to all of us, in our earthly troubles and in our darkness, were we get lost and cannot see. Thus, I have used black in the background to represent our world in darkness. The man represents all humanity, kneeling and hopeless. The hand represents the power of God reaching out to all humanity and the light to the world. The divided sea represents the miraculous deliverance of Moses and his people from exile in Egypt, which is relevant to all Gods people today.

This Covid 19 Pandemic has really turned the world upside down, changed lives of many.  What I wanted to portray in my art piece is that just as the days of Noah and Moses and Jonah, God is calling all humanity to repentance and to turn to God. He will deliver his people from all difficulties in life and deliver us to everlasting life with him in heaven.

The fire represents the sins of the world dividing all humanity from our heavenly father and God’s power to deliver us from the fire and help us walk through fire without catching fire or hurting any part of humanity that repents and believes. The fire we walk through in this worldly and bodily troubles, can include, pestilence, plagues, natural disasters. This Covid 19 pandemic has left many helpless, exhausted, grieving for the loss of loved ones.

The seedling sprouting forth, portraits the hope for the world and Gods Saving grace. I want to show that there is hope for the World. If we all put our differences aside and start looking after ourselves, each other, and our planet. If we start living and loving our neighbour as ourselves like Jesus Christ has taught us. The World will be a better place for all. “I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?” (Isaiah 43:19)

God wants to tell all humanity although it seems that God is not here and cannot hear us. He is indeed trying to reach out to each one of us, saying “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am a gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
